HUNT, John D.

Source: Greencastle Banner & Times 27 April 1894 p 3

John D. Hunt, who comes from Cloverdale Township, asking the voters of Putnam County people for clerk, was born in Vigo County six miles east of Terre Haute, 47 years ago. He lived in Vigo Until 1869 when he removed to Cloverdale Twp, two miles south of Cloverdale, where he had continued to reside.  Mr. Hunt is best liked where he is best known and his acquaintance extends to a large number of people.  He is a man of strict honesty, a man of integrity and sterling worth to the community in which he lives and a man fully qualified for the office to which he aspires.  In religion he is an active member of the Methodist Church and in fraternal matters he is a Mason and a Knights of Pythias. An intelligent, industrious farmer, Mr. Hunt has the confidence of the people and one point in his favor is that he has never before held a public office though he made a splendid race for trustee of Cloverdale Township, greatly reducing a democratic majority of 150. Mr. Hunt is on the hunt for votes and his canvass will be no still hunt.  He is going after votes and when the ballots, rattle in the boxes next November we predict that Mr. Hunt will have set a mark on vote-getting in Putnam of which any republican might well feel proud. – kbz
