HUFFMAN, Edmond, P. O. Reelsville; Farmer, Section 28; was born August 16, 1824, in Nelson County, KY.; son of Peter and Cynthia HUFFMAN. He settled in this township and county on Section 18, in 1836. Was married April 5, 1849, to Louis Ann, daughter of George and Margaret RIGHTSELL, born August 9, 1830. They have had twelve children, namely: James Roberts, born January 25, 1850; Maria E., born October 6, 1851; Cephas, born January 28, 1853, died February 20, 1853; John A., born January 10, 1855; Douglass, born May 10, 1857; Ivan, born July 31, 1859; Daniel Vorhees, born March 22, 1861, died March 22, 1864; Lucretia A., born May 13, 1863; Gen. Jackson, born September 6, 1865; Charles H., born February 5, 1868; Margaret, born March 20, 1870; Greeley R., born June 23, 1872. At the age of nineteen, Mr. HUFFMAN started out to do for himself; worked six months for William ALEXANDER, near Gosport, Ind., at $5 a month, and at the end of that time he gave all his wages, amounting to $30, to his father, who soon after made him a present of a colt, worth about $15. At the time of his marriage he could neither read nor write, but by the aid of his good wife, soon acquired both, and since then has been extremely successful, owning at present 1,000 acres of land. Mr. HUFFMAN is a Democrat.
