HOLLAND, Thomas, PO Greencastle, Farmer, Sec 22; born Dec 31, 1814 in Delaware Co PA son of Thomas Holland born Philadelphia, PA Oct 9, 1766 and Phoebe Pile-Holland, born Feb 27, 1780; settled in this county 1837. Married Jan 19, 1841 in this township (Clinton), Jane Goodwin, daughter of Francis Goodwin, a native of Va, who moved to clinton Township in 1836. Children's names: Phoebe (deceased); Sarah K (deceased) Mary A, born Dec 9, 1846; Martha Jane born May 5, 1849; Rachel (deceased); John H (deceased); William F born May 7, 1878 (sic - think this is probably 1858); Nathaniel W, born Nov 27, 1860; two died in infancy, one August 5, 1851, another Jan 13, 1864. Mr. Holland was one of the first Township Trustees, serving two years, was also Treasurer 3 years under the first school law; the same length of time under the present. He is the owner of 161 acrs of well-improved land. A democrat, and one of the best known men in the county. His parents were married Jan 13, 1803; had a family of 9 children of which he was 5th.
