James T. HANNA, PO Carpentersville, son of William and Elizabeth Hanna was born in Montgomery County, Indiana Oct 20, 1837; settled in Franklin Township Sec 21 1868; on the 13th of Aug 1868 in Montgomery County, Indiana he was unite din marriage to Emma Mercer born in Montgomery County; by this marriage he had one child, Elizabeth Hannah who was born June6, 1869; his wife lived but a few months after the birth of her child, dying September 20, 1869; he married Sept 20, 1871 Dulcena Young, daughter of William and Mary Young; she was born in Putnam County, Indiana May 18, 1842; by his second wife Mr. Hanna has had 3 children - William born July 8, 1872; Clay born July 4, 1874 and Emma born November 7, 1876. Mr. Hanna's parents settled in Montgomery County, Indiana in 1829; his father still resides there, his mother having died when he was a child. His farm of 270 acres is well improved, an energetic spirit of hard work bringing about the result. Politically, he is a Republican, casting his first vote for Abraham Lincoln. he is known throughout the township as a man of enterprise and public spirit, and has won, by his sterling character, the respect and confidence of the people. His parents were Kentuckians and his grandfather, Adam Hanna was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.   --- kbz
