HALL, John W. A., P. O. Carpentersville, farmer, was born June 15, 1826 in Clark County Ky; son of Amos and Polly Wade Hall, natives of VA; the former born 1792 settled in this county, Jackson Township in 1864; has been married twice, first to Margaret Ann, daughter of John and Margaret Mitchell; born in Montgomery Co KY Oct 7, 1831 died Aug 15, 1870 and by the union had 9 children: Nancy J, born May 27, 1851; Mary A July 24, 1853; Carrie B, July 23, 1860; John T May 22, 1862; Mattie E April 11, 1865; Bertie L, April 24, 1868 and 3 boys who died in infancy; and again, Dec 23, 1873 to Sidney A. Scobee, a native of Shelby Co KY; who has borne him one child, Ida May July 1, 1875. Mr. Hall is the 5th of a family of six chldren; began life poor, but now, by persistent effort and economy has accumulated 155 acres of fertile land; among his children, he has divided the proceeds of 70 acres. His oldest daughter is the wife of John Dodd and has two children, Minnie F. and Ennis. He has been almost a life-long memeber of the M. E. Church joining when 9 years of age, and has ever since firmly upheld the principles of Christianity; known among his neighbors as a man of fair and honest dealings. In politics, Democratic.
