GRANTHAM, Elijah - Putnam

GRANTHAM, Elijah, P. O. Ashby's Mills, Farmer, Section 1, one of the self-made men of Putnam County; was born in Washington County, Indiana Aug 20, 1820; son of Jesse Grantham (born in Randolph Co NC) and Mary Brookshire (born in same county) who settled in this county in 1835. On Novemer 27, 1851, he was united in marriage to Miss Nancy A, daughter of John and Betsey Lafollett, whose birth date is March 21, 1831; 8 children was the result of this union, only 3 of whom are living: John J; Jesse B and Mary C. Mr. Grantham has been a very successful farmer, owning 200 acres of land and his home being one of the best in this township. His political opinions are Democratic.
