FORDICE, Joseph L, tailor, Crawfordsville, was born on May 3, 1823, in Miami County, Ohio. He lived on the farm until he was 17 and then learned his trade. In 1845 he began business for himself in New Carlisle, and remained there until 1852, when he came to Greencastle and entering as partner in a drygoods store. in 1861 he met with severe reverses, owing to the dishonesty of his partner. While in Greencastle., he served one term as city councilman. In the spring of 1875 he settled in Crawfordsville and has done a good business. He has been a Mason 19 years, an elder in the Presbyterian Church 25 years, is a member of the Knights of Pythias and a republican. He was married Oct 1, 1846 to Elizabeth SLOAN. They have one son, and one daughter, Sarah L. She and her mother are both members of the First Presbyterian Church.

FORDYCE, Josephus L, PO Crawfordsville; Tailor; son of James and Lydia; was b. at Los Creek, Miami Co, OH May 3, 1823 and settled in Crawfordsville March 3, 1875. Married Elizabeth SLOAN, New Carlisle, Clark Co, Ohio Oct 1, 1846; children's names: James S. and Sarah Lydia.
