FORDICE, George. P. O. Portland Mills, Farmer, Sec 20; born May 12, 1814 in Morgan co OH; son of William FOrdice born in Nova Scotia, May 11, 1786, died Oct 2, 1862, and Rheuama Buck Fordice, born in Vermont, Dec 9, 1786 died Nov 28, 1876; married march 1, 1806. April 13, 1842, married Mary M, daughter of Starling and Julia Carver who was born in Boyle Co KY June 12, 1845 (sic -- assume 1825?). Children: William Nelson; Samuel J; Rachel D; America E (deceased); Isabel; James E (deceased); Lee A; Florence; Jesse F (deceased) Ella M and Maria F. Mr. F. is the 5th in a family of 13 children, 9 living. He left his home in Ohio when but 16 traveled through several states and finally settled down in this county; had been engaged in the manufacture of fanning mils for some years, from which he realized sufficient to start him well in faming; is now one of the most prominent farmers of the county, owning 684 acres of well improved land. In poltics, is a Republican. His parents are buried in the grave yard at Pisgah Church; both were Methodists.
