Sylvester EVANS, farmer, Sec 10, Floyd Twp, was born in NC in 1813, son of Joseph and Mary L. SAUERS Evans, both natives of NC. They came to this county in 1826, settling in Floyd Twp, where the father died in 1866, the mother in 1849. Only two of their twelve children are now living, Sylvester being the third from the youngest. He was reared on a farm and has always followed the occupation of a farmer. He was married in 1833 to Miss Mary WESNER, daughter of Jacob and Sophia Wesner. Two of their five chilren are living: Noah and Harper. The former married Mary E. Smith and they have three children: Walter M; Uriah S and Robert E. Mr. Eavns is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and has served as class leader and trustee of the church. His wife is a member of the same church. Polticially he is a Republican. Postoffice, Graceland.
