“Home-Grown Statesmen – native Hoosiers save one represent Indiana in Congress” – William R. Ellis, who represents the Second Oregon District is another Montgomery County product. He was born in Waveland in 1850 and went west at the age of 21.  Andrew J. Hunter of Paris, Ills was born in Greencastle in 1831 and Joseph V. Grat of Pekin, Ill a native of Terre Haute and graduated from the high school there and Wabash College.
