EDWARDS, James U. P. O. Carpentersville, residing on Sec 28, Franklin Township was born in Putnam County, Indiana on April 28, 1837; he is the son of James G. and Nancy C. Edwards; the former having settled in the county in 1831; the latter of the Lafollett family. He was married Sept 13, 1860 to Elizabeth HALE, a native of Putnam County daughter of Russel and Sarah Hale; the date of her birth Nov 11, 1845; Mr. Edwards has five children, 3 sons and two daughters: Sarah Alice, born Oct 29, 1862; Albert born July 2, 1866; Russel born April 2, 1870; Frank born Dec 2, 1874 and Ina, born Dec 31, 1876. His parents were among the earliest settlers of the county and the famiily rank among the most prominent. He owns 240 acres of land, well improved chiefly by himself. He has held several responsible positions in the township, such as Township Trustee and Assessor. Is ex-Auditor of the county; having been elected on the Democratic ticket; his occupancy of such positions shows the confience the county people have in his integrity.
