EARP, William - Putnam

Mr. Earp is in good health and made an especial trip to the gallery for his picture.  He was born in the District of Columbia, Aug 22, 1805 and is at present 83 years of age.  When 8 years of age his parents moved to Kentucky.  He has been twice married.  His first wife was a Miss Sarah Arrowsmith to whom he was united in 1827.  By this union he was the father of eight children.  His second wife was a Miss Lucindy Henry whom he married in 1866.  She is stil living and is 70 years of age.  He has no children by his second wife.  He moved to this county in 1836 and was a Whit, afterwards becoming a Republican.  In religion he is a Methodist.  Mr. Earp distinctly remembers the burning of Washington by the British troops (August 24, 1814).   ~~~Transcribed and Typed by kbz
