DIFFENBAUGH, Elizabeth A. PO Putnamville was born in Bedford Co PA Oct 9, 1817, daughter of Jacob and Rebecca Bruner. Married Nov 29, 1835 Daniel Diffenbaugh of Cumberland Valley, Bedford co PA and by this marriage had five children: Susan Aug 25, 1836 now Mrs. Smith who lives in Madison Co East Va; Samuel S, May 4, 1840 died at Harper's Ferry Dec 13, 1862 being a member of the 28th Regt PA Vols, Rebecca E, June 27, 1842 died June 11, 1843; Henry B May 12, 1844 and Emma D Aug 29, 1846 now Mrs. Devore whose home is in Brazil, Ind. Mr. Diffenbaught followed the occupation of farming about two years before his death he fell, breaking two of his ribs, the effect of which brought on consumption, which terminated his life July 6, 1848. He was a man of good standing in the community in which he lived and member of the Lutheran Church. After her husand's death, Mrs. Diffenbaugh lived on the farm for two years, she then moved to Centerville, Bedford Co PA where she engaged in hotel-keeping, at which business she continued 16 years at the end of that time she came to putnamville, her present home, where she is living comfortably and enjoying good health. Is a member of the Presbyterian church.
