COOPER, John

Mr. Editor: I want to say a word or two in your columns in behalf of John Cooper who is a candidate for City Marshal at our coming election.  John Cooper is well known to all of us as an honest, upright, and strait-forward young man of good business qualifications.  He is in every way worthy of the position to which he aspires and if elected, will attend to the business of the office personally and not by deputy as is too often the case.  As a soldier, Mr. Cooper has a bright record.  He enlisted in 1861 and served till the close of the Rebellions – giving over four year’s service to his country.  Can’t we unite and give him this small office, just to show that we have not quite forgotten the many promises we made the boys when enlisting?  Citizen – Greencastle, April 11, 1870
