COHN, Abe
Abe Cohn
This book has no cover, and no index, and no author. I bought it on Ebay; it just has the insides, but it is full of Indiana biographies. I am not researching this family, just thought I would share. I do not know anymore about these families or these surnames. NOTE: I don’t know if there is any additional mention of this family in the book, it has no index. I do not want to sell this book. I am typing the biographies from it.

Abe COHN is the oldest businessman of the town of Cloverdale, proprietor of a store handling clothing and supplies for men and footwear. The store has been widely advertised as having been “on the corner over sixty years.” It is an establishment of reliable merchandise and of business methods that have caused to greatly enhance the reputation of Abe Cohn as a citizen as well as a commercial factor. Mr. Cohn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, December 18, 1858. His father, Meig Cohn, was a native of France, born September 23, 1821, and served seven years and two months in the army of his native country. On coming to the United States he located at Cincinnati and later moved to Cloverdale, Indiana, where he established the business, which is now continued by his son, Abe Cohn. Meig Cohn died January 30, 1899. He married Leney Amberg, a native of Germany. Their five children were: Lambert and John, both deceased; David, a merchant at Martinsville, Indiana; Hannah, deceased; and Abe. Abe Cohn was educated in public schools and from early boyhood was made familiar with the routine of duties in his father’s store. When his father died he took charge and has been sole proprietor for over forty years. He has built up a large trade and has kept it through the changes incident to the building of highways and the expansion of motor traffic. Mr. Cohn has lived at Cloverdale longer than any other resident. He married, March 5, 1893, Miss Eva Rogers, of Putnam County. They have two adopted children, Lenora and Lela. Mr. Cohn is a Republican voter and is a member of the Masonic fraternity and Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
