CARTER, D.T., is the son of Othius and Artimissia Carter. His father was born in Mason Co KY Feb 8, 1804 and died in this County Feb 15, 1870. His mother was born in Bath County, KY Feb 7, 1806 and at this time lives on the homestead in this township (Scott). They were married June 19, 1824, removing to Monroe County IN 1824 to Putnam Co 1839 and lastly this county, 1862. The subject of our sketch was born Aug 18, 1832 in Monroe County and lived with his parents for 34 years. March 24, 1867, he married Margaret A. a daughter of Adam and Ann M. HESTER who was born in this township Oct 11, 1838. About two years after marriage, they purchased and located upon their present beautiful homestead, a view of which is seen in the Atlas. They are members of the Methodist Church, and are living in ease and comfort, Mr. C. being a careful financier, and eminently successful in his undertakings, enjoying the confidence of both neighbors and friends.
