W.S. Brown, the landlord of the Central Hotel of this city was born in Putnam County, Indiana where he resided on a farm. When between 21 and 22 years of age he left his Indiana home, arriving in this township in the fall of 1880. In July 1884 he engaged in the hotel business here in which he has remained. During this time he has had several partners, but for some time has been conducting the business by himself. Mr. Brown has reason to feel proud of his success. Reaching this county quite a young man and with but little means, he now owns the Central and a good farm besides and does a hotel business second to but few in the southwest. - kbz
