GEORGE T. ALLEN, farmer section 9, Monroe Township, was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky, March 10, 1841, son of James Allen, a native of the same county. His uncle, John Allen, was a soldier in the war of 1812. He came to this county in the fall of 1851, settling upon the farm he now occupies. His early life was spent on a farm, and he was educated at the Bainbridge Academy. He spent some years in clerking in stores in Bainbridge and other places. He was married March 13, 1867, to Miss Mary Jane Lingenfelter, daughter of Valentine Lingenfelter, of Hamilton County, Indiana, who was a native of Clark County, Kentucky. The have three children--Hubbard L., Prudie S. and Walter G. He owns 240 acres of land, and devotes his attention to farming and stock-raising. Mrs. Allen died November 26, 1885, a worth and consistent member of the Presbyterian church.
