LULA COX WILLIAMS

Mrs. Lula Cox Williams, 85, widow of James H. Williams and a prominent Posey county resident most of her life, died suddenly Wednesday (23 Nov 1955) night at her home in Coral Gables, Fla., where she and a daughter, Miss Helen Williams, resided together.

Announcement of Mrs. Williams' death was received here yesterday by Mrs. Mark M. Dawson, Solitude, a cousin.

The body of the deceased will reach Weisinger Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon Saturday night.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wadesville Primitive Baptist Church.  Elder Leo Dodd, Eldorado, Ill., will conduct the service.  Burial will be in Laurel Hill cemetery at Wadesville.  Mrs. Williams had been a member of the Wadesville church for 60 years.

In addition to the daughter, Helen, retired chief accountant of the Federal Women's Prison at Alderson, W. Va., a daughter, Mrs. E. D. Thompson, also of Coral Gables, Fla., survives.

Mrs Williams was a native of Center township, a daughter of Joseph A. Cox and Sarah Murphy Cox, representatives of pioneer local families.  Her deceased husband, James H. Williams, ws a well known Lynn township farmer, a Democratic leader and a former Lynn township trustee.

The late deceased left Mt. Vernon about 15 years ago.  During her local residence she was quite active in General Thomas Posey chapter, Daughters of American Revolution.  She and the daughter, Helen, visited in Posey county last September.
