EDGAR WELLS

Edgar Wells, 65, 425 E. Fourth street, died almost instantly Saturday (24 Nov 1956) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock while he and his wife were in Evansville.

 

Wells, a lineman's helper employed locally by Southern Indiana Gas & Electric Co., for 12 years, was stricken with an attack of heart disease as he and his wife were walking along N. W. Fifth Street in Evansville beside the Robert Hall Clothing Store.  An ambulance of Schaeffer's Funeral Home located across the street from where Mr. Wells fell to the sidewalk conveyed him to an Evansville hospital but he was dead on arrival there.

 

The body is at Weisinger Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon where the funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday in Weisinger chapel.  Burial will be in Black cemetery west of Mt. Vernon.

 

Surviving are the wife, nee Irean Redman; two son, Charles E. Springfield, Ill., who is in military service, and Marion E. Gary, Ind; a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Luna, Mt Vernon; three grandchildren; four brothers, Elmer Carl, Evansville, Clarence, Kentucky, and Henry, Mt. Vernon, and three sisters, Mrs. John Medcalf, Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Vernon Baldwin, R.R.5 and Mrs. Owen Redker, Miami, Fla.

 

The deceased came to Posey county from his native White county, Ill., 40 years ago.  He was a son of Everett Wells and Elizabeth Hanold Wells.
