Miss Laura Walter, 64, Evansville, a virtually life-long resident of the Mt. Vernon community and a salesman at Stinson Department Store for many years died at 2 p.m. Sunday (11 Nov 1956) in Welborn Memorial Hospital in Evansville.

Miss Walter had been seriously ill the last two weeks of nephritis and entered the hospital last Friday from the home of her sister, Mrs. Robert W. Hunter, 1211 Ravenswood Drive, Evansville, where she had resided for the last two years.

The body is at Fountain Terrace Chapel, 2063 Division street, Evansville, where the funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The officiating minister will be Dr. Frank R. Greer, minister of Trinity Methodist Church, Evansville, of which Miss Walter was a member following many years of membership in First Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.

Burial will be in Oak Park (Oak Hill) cemetery at Evansville.

Surviving in addition to the sister, Mrs. Hunter, are three nieces, Mrs. Robert J. Hayes, Evansville, Mrs. Roger Shenk, Denver, Colo., and the former Heloise Walter, now married and residing in Menlo Park, Calif.

The deceased was a native of Western Black township, a member of a prominent local family.  Her parents were Charles Walter and Rannie Williams Walter.  Following her mother's death, her father married Anna Thompson.  The deceased and the step-mother resided together at 441 W. Fourth street in Mt. Vernon until the stepmother's death.
