Edward Walter, 79, a member of the Walter baker and confectionery
family that resided and did business in Mt. Vernon for many years, died at 3:15 a.m. today in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Little Rock, Ark.
Announcement of his death was received in Mt. Vernon by a brother, John Walter, Terre Haute, In., who with his wife was visiting in
the local home of Mrs. John Walter's brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence E. Ploch.
Funeral arrangements are pending. Mr. and Mrs. John Walter
will return to Terre Haute today and if the funeral and burial rites are to be
conducted in Little Rock will go to Little Rock from Terre Haute.
The deceased, a son of Peter Walter and Margaret Moll Walter,
resided in Hot Springs, Ark., for many years. He entered the V.
A. Hospital at Little Rock several months ago. His wife died in Hot Springs in August. A son, William, by a
former marriage, was an Air Force fatality in World War II at San Antonio, Tex., where he was a pilot.
the late deceased was a veteran of military service in the
Spanish-American War, serving with company B which was recruited in Mt. Vernon.
Surviving in
addition to the brother, John, in Terre Haute, are two other brothers, Mark V. and
Fred T. Tulsa, Okla.
