A brief acute illness climaxing failing health from a complication of seases extending over several months proved fatal to Mts. Emma Christine Uhde,70, a well-known resident of R.R. 3 Mt. Vernon and the wife of Herman Uhde, prominent local farmer at 5 p.m. Monday (15 Nov 1954) in Welborn Memorial Hospital in Evansville.

Mrs Uhde entered the hospital five days ago.

A native of
Columbus, Ky., a daughter of William Blocker and daughter of William Rockey and Katherine Damm Rocker, the deceased had resided in the Mt. Vernon vicinity for the last 31 years.  She was a member of Trinity Evangelican and Reformed Church.

The body is at the Short-Niehaus Funeral Home and will remain there through the funeral service set for
2 p.m. Thursday in the Short-Niehaus chapel.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.  Rev. August E. Binder, pastor of Trinity Evangelicanl and Reformed Church will be the officiating minister.

Surviving in addition to the husband are four sons, Clifford and Clarence Uhde, Evansville, Harolld, Mt. Vernon and Gilbert - Poseyville; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Lutterman, Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Woodrow McFadin, Mt. Vernon; three stepsons, Otto and Ralph Uhde, Poseyville and Oscar Uhde, Mt. Vernon; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. J. O. Shaw; Columbua, Ky.  A son, Albert, is deceased.
