JOHN F STALLINGS

John F. Stallings, 89 prominent Posey county resident, died at 1:20 o'clock this morning at his home in Wadesville.  A heart ailment was the cause of his death.  He had been in ill health for some time but had continued active in over seeing his farm.

 

Mt. Stallings was a member of Poseyville lodge of Masons, an Eastern Star lodge of Poseyville of which he was a past patron, Scottish Rite and Hadi Temple of Evansville.  He also was a member of the Christian Church of Wadesville.

 

The deceased was a native of Posey county and had spent the greater part of his life here.  He was the son of Capt. Alexander Stallings and Laura Johnson Stallings, pioneer residents of the county.

 

He is the last survivor of a family of six children.

 

Near surviving relatives are the wife, Anna; a son, A. Lowell Stallings, New Harmony, manager of the Co-op refinery of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

 

The body is at the Alexander Funeral Home in Evansville where friends may call until Thursday at 1 p.m., when it will be removed to the Christian Church in Wadesville.

 

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Christian Church in Wadesville, with Rev. Rice Kello, Evansville, officiating, interment will be in Laurel Hill cemetery at Wadesville.

 

The family requests no flowers and persons desiring to do so may contribute to the Shrine crippled children's fund.
