FRED D REDMAN

 

Chief Boatswain's Mate Fred D. Redman, 41, U.S. Navy, a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and a veteran of 19 years naval services died yesterday (17 May 1955) in San Diego, Calif., where he was stationed, his parents, Mt. and Mrs. Lester Redman, R. R. 2 Mt. Vernon, have been advised.  (Burial was in Bellefontaine Cemetery.)

 

The death announcement which had no details of the cause of death or funeral plans came from the Navyman's wife, Elaine, a native of California, who with their two small daughters, Nina Sue and Delores, reside in San Diego.

 

Chief Boatswain's Mate Redman was stationed on the Battleship West Virginia when the Japanese sneak attack was made on Pearl Harbor to plunge the United States into World War II.

 

He survived the attack and saw service throughout the war as a lieutenant junior grade.

 

Surviving, in addition to his wife, daughters and parents, are four brothers, Thomas H.., Woodrow W., Lloyd and william Redman, Mt. Vernon and four sisters, Mrs. Raymond Pfeiffer and Mrs. Charles E. Lawrence, Jr.. Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Carl Bamby, Princeton, and Mrs. Frank Cooper, Evansville.
