VICTOR RAAB

June 27, 1958

Victor W. Raab, 62, R.R. 1, Elberfeld, IN, a veteran watchmaker who for the last three months had been employed by Rosenbaum Jewelry Store in Mt. Vernon, died at the wheel of his auto about 7:40 am today en route to his job in Mt. Vernon from his home.

The Vanderburgh county sheriff's office was of the opinion at noon that a cerebral hemorrhage or heart disease caused the autoist's death. He was found slumped over the wheel of the auto which had rolled off the Boonville-New Harmony road a quarter mile east of Green River road near Evansville and hit a tree. An autopsy was in progress this afternoon at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville to determine the cause of death.

The body will be taken to Lowe's Colonial Chapel at Evansville for funeral arrangements.  (Buried in Zoar Cemetery, Chandler, IN)

Mr. Raab had been employed by Rosenbaum Jewelry Store since the entrance of his son, Robert Raab, a watchmaker at the local jewelry store, into Army service. Raab, who recently married Miss Emily Schaffer, Mt. Vernon, is stationed at Camp Gordon, GA. He has a brother, Rudolph, who is a U.S. Marine stationed at San Diego, CA. The elder Raab's wife also survives.
