Richard Newton Parker, 92, died yesterday afternoon at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hogan, 313 E. Water street, after a long illness.
A native of Caldwell county, Ky., a son of Richard D. Parker and Nancy
Franklin Parker, the deceased came to Mt. Vernon in 1914. He and a brother, Paris,
who died in 1944, engaged in hauling and operated a horse and mule sales stable
for a number of years.
The body is at the Weisinger Funeral
Home where friends are invited to call after Wednesday noon.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Weisinger
chapel with rev. Chester McGehee, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church, in charge. Burial will be in
Bellefontaine cemetery.
Surviving are a
granddaughter, Mrs Dorothy Hoanselman,
Terre
Haute;
two stepbrothers, Lloyd L. Parker and Robert D. Parker, both of Harrisburg, Ill. and two stepsisters, Mrs. Alta Weire, and Mrs. Aurora Gray, both of Galatia, Ill.
