JOSEPH J MOOREHEAD

Joseph J Moorehead, 94, a former prominent resident of Mt. Vernon and widely known through the Tri-State area as an early salesman and maintenance man of Red Jacket pumps, died at 2:45 P.M. Thursday (8 Nov 1956) at M. & R. Nursing Home in Evansville.

 

For many years, Mr. Moorehead was an employe of E. B. Schenk Hardware Co.  Later he was a member of a Mt. Vernon retail hardware firm, Sailer-Moorehad Hardware Co.

 

The body is at Weisinger Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

 

The funeral service willb e at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Weisinger chapel with Rev. J. Kenneth Forbes, minister of First Methodist Church, of which Mr. Moorehead was a member, officiating.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

 

Surviving are a son, Joseph Moorehead, Columbus, Ind; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Guy Moorehead, Evansville; four grandchildren, Mrs. John Tyler, Mrs. F. M. Moronie and Charles Moorehead all of Evansville, and Mrs. Charles Goins, Columbus, Ind., and four great-grandchildren.

 

The deceased left Mt. Vernon following the death of his wife, Kathryn Forthoffer Moorehead in 1940.  For 14 years he resided with his granddaughter, Mrs. Tyler, in Evansville.  Two years ago he entered the M. & R. Nursing Home.  

 

A native of Dixon, Ky., Mr. Moorehead came to Mt. Vernon in 1884.
