George Aubry Moorehead, 75,
a native of Mt. Vernon and a Vigo county and Terre Haute Democratic leader and public official
for many years, died yesterday at his home at 1457 Ohio street in Terre Haute.
The deceased was the son of Marion Moorehead, an
employ of the former Hudnut Milling Co., in Mt. Vernon, and Amelia Maurer Moorehead.
As a young man he was a shoe department clerk in the former A Hartung & Brother store here and was similarly employed
in Terre
Haute
for many years.
He was a former Terre Haute city clerk and former assessor of Harrison township in Vigo county and at
one time was chairman of the Vigo county Democratic Central Committee.
Mt. Moorehead's wife, Amelia, died a year ago. His
nearest surviving relative is a sister, Mrs. Emma Simmons, St. Petersburg, Fla.
The body is at the Callahan Funeral Home in Terre Haute and funeral services probably will be
conducted Monday.
Mrs. Albert Aldrich, a cousin of the deceased, Mrs. Clinton O. Maurer and Mrs.
William C. Maurer, Mt. Vernon were in Terre Haute today, called by Mt. Moorehead's death and Mrs. Aldrich will remain for
the funeral.
