Enoch W. (Nick) Mc Fadden, 87, picturesque life-long  resident of Posey county, former sheriff and a colorful and dynamic figure in public life and Democratic politics for many years died Thursday afternoon at his home at 421 W. Second St.

A remarkable physique that kept him alert and active well past four score years had broken in recent years and he had been bedfast for the last month.

The body is at the Weisinger Funeral Home where friends are invited to call.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Weisinger Chapel, at 2 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Arthur C. Blackburn, a retired General Baptist minister and a close friend of the deceased for many years.  Burial will be in Beech Grove cemetery in West Lynn township.

Surviving are the wife, the former Flora Alexander whose marriage to Mr. McFadden took place almost 58 years ago, and a sister, Mrs. Julius A. Alexander, West Lynn township.  Mrs. McFadden, the widow, is a sister of Julius A. Alexander who is seriously ill at his home.  Four brothers of the late deceased preceded him in death: James F, also a Posey county sheriff; Noah Benoni, and Hanie.

The deceased would have reached 50 years of membership in Arctic lodge No. 394 Free & Accepted Masons, New Harmony, the coming April 24.  He was a former member of Mt. Vernon lodge of Elks.

Ex-Sheriff Mc Fadden was a direct descendant of the McFaddin family that made the original settlement of Mt. Vernon.  He was a son of Polk McFadden and Melinda Bundy McFadden and was born and spent his early years on the McFadden homestead in West Lynn township.

A genial personality that won friends and an ardent devotion to principles of the Democratic party made him a political    "natural".  He first was elected trustee of Lynn township.  He served two terms as sheriff, of Posey county from 1922 - 1926.
