George D. (Doc) Ludlow, 46, a well known lifelong resident of the Grafton-Savah vicinity, died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday (3 Nov 1957) at the L & R Nursing Home in New Harmony which he entered from his home in West Lynn township 10 days previously.

The Lynn township school bus contractor, small farmer and trucker had been bedfast for two years, ill of multiple sclerosis.  A heart condition was the immediate cause of death.

During Mr. Ludlow's illness his wife, the former Doris Lyke who was deputy Posey county treasurer during most of the tenure of her father, Walter Lyke, as treasurer from 1940 to 1944 drove the school bus under her husband's contract.

The body is at The Short Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon where friends may call after Tuesday noon.

The funeral service will be conducted in Short chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in Beech Grove cemetery in West Lynn township and Mt. Vernon lodge, No. 49, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of which the deceased was a member, will conduct graveside tires.  Rev. Roger L. Henson, St. Louis, former pastor of Bethesda General Baptist Church at Savah will be the officiating clergyman.

The deceased, whose aged parents, Luther Ludlow and Flossie Williams Ludlow, reside at Grafton, was of pioneer local ancestry.

Surviving, in addition to the wife and parents, are four sisters, Mrs. Howard Van Bushkirk, Jacksonville, Fla, Mrs William Gibson, Red Bluff, Calif; Mrs. James Allen, Imperial, Calif; and Mrs. William Hinderliter, R.R. 4, Mt. Vernon and two brothers, Spencer, Miami, Fla. and Myron, Bell Glade, Fla.
