HENRY J LOUY

Henry J. Louy, 60, an employee of the production department of The Carter Oil Company for more than 30 years and a World War I veteran succumbed to an illness of several weeks at 4:55 a.m. today at his home at 520 Mill street.

The deceased came to Mt. Vernon with his family from Louisiana nine years ago.

He was an Army sergeant in World War I.  An Eagle Scout, himself, he gave years of service as a Boy Scout leader.

Rev. J. Kenneth Forbes, minister of First Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon, of which the deceased was a member, will conduct a service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Short-Niehaus Funeral Home chapel.

The body will be taken Monday to Hanner Funeral Home at Vivian, La.  The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church at Rodessa, La., close to Vivian, and burial will be in a Vivian cemetery.

Death severed marital bonds of 37 years.

Surviving are the wife, Helen; two daughters, Mrs. Bobby J. Wills, Miami Springs, Fla., and Mrs. A. J. Schoolfield, Edna, Tex. and three grandchildren.

Mr. Louy was a native of Milon Center, Ohio.  Many years of his oil production service were spent in the South.

He was a member of Owen Dunn post No. 5, American Legion, Mt. Vernon; the Masonic Lodge at Smackover, Ark; the Evansville, Masonic Consisory and Shrine, and Rodess, Ala., chaper, Order of Eastern Star.
