GARLAND B LILLY

 

March 28, 1957

Garland B. Lilly, 60, Chicago, a Swift & Company executive whose wife was before her marriage Kathryn Bokelman of Mt. Vernon, did unexpectedly in his sleep early Wednesday (27 Mar 1957).

 

He had been employed by Swift & Company ever since his separation from the U.S. Navy at the end of World War I.  He was a native of Smith Mills, Ky.

 

Mrs. Lilly found her husband dead in his bed at their home early yesterday.  Mr. Lilly had been at his office Tuesday.  Death was attributed to a coronary occlusion.

 

The deceased and his wife had frequently visited relatives of Mrs. Lilly in the Mt. Vernon vicinity.

 

Following a funeral service in Chicago Friday the body will reach Short-Niehaus Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon late Friday night.

 

Rev. August E. Binder, pastor of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church, will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday in Short-Niehaus chapel.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

 

Surviving in addition to the wife are a daughter, Mrs. C. J. Brannon, Jr. Wichita Falls, Ex; two grandchildren; a sister, Miss Margaret Lilly, Chicago, and four brothers, Milton Grover and Sangfroid, Smith Mills, Ky., and Klein, Chicago.
