MOUNT VERNON Jim King, 67, of Mount Vernon, died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005, at his home. Jim was born April
10, 1938, son of
Charles and Irma (Redman) King.
He attended Mount Pleasant General Baptist Church. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran having
served in Berlin with the 6th Infantry Regiment and was appointed a Guardian
of The Outpost of Democracy. Jim loved hunting and fishing and playing music on
his guitar or harmonica and spending time with his family. Jim retired from
Whirlpool Corp. in Evansville, in 1993 after 30 years where he was a member of IUE local
808. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ferris, in 2003 and a
brother, Rick.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Karen Fleming and her husband
David of Mount Vernon; his son Ron King and his wife Sheelah;
sisters, Janet Alsop, Cathy Emery and Georgia Nettles
of Mount Vernon, Peggy Brown of Laredo, Texas, Mary Forenz
of Mohegan Lake, N.Y., Linda Quiseng of Wahiawa,
Hawaii, and Jeanie Rice of Evansville; brothers, Charles R., Jerry and Randy
King all of Mt. Vernon; 5 grandchildren, Nichole, Kayla, Kelsea,
Chelsea and Calvin.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2005, at
Austin Funeral Home, 1330 E. Fourth St., Mount Vernon, with Rev. Charles Crandell and Rev. Tom Buffington officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Mount Vernon with military rites.

from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2005, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Mount Pleasant General Baptist Church or the Church Cemetery.
