SARA ROBLYE POWELL KECK

Mrs. Sara Roblye Powell Keck, 63, prominent Mt. Vernon woman, died at 5 o'clock this morning in St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.  A heart condition was fatal.

She was the widow of Louis D. Keck, Posey county Democratic leader and an executive of the former Keck-Gonnerman Co., local manufacturing firm, who died in 1951.  Their only son, Louis D. Keck, Jr., was a fatality of an auto accident on State Road 62 east of Mt. Vernon on July 4, 1949.

Mrs. Keck entered St. Mary's Hospital nine weeks ago from her home at 502 Walnut street.

She was a member of a leading White county, Illinois, family and was a daughter of John G. Powell and Suma Randolph Powell.  Mrs. Keck's father like her son met death in an auto accident on State Road 62 east of Mt. Vernon.  The mother, who is 88 years old and to whom Mrs. Keck was devoted, lived in Carmi, Ill.

Te late deceased was a graducate of Hamilton College at Lexington.  Her marriage to Louis D. Keck took place in 1918.

The body is at Short-Niehaus Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.  Calling hours at Short-Niehaus chapel will begin at noon Sunday.

The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel at 2 p.m. Monday by William E. Stark, vicar of St. John's Episcopal Church of Mt. Vernon, of which the deceased was a devout, active member.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

Surviving in addition to the mother, are a sister, Mrs. Hugh Hale, Carmi, Ill., and a niece, Miss Virginia Hale, Carmi.

Mrs. Keck was a member of the Ramblers club and the Associate Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority and was the organizing regent of General Thomas Posey chapter Daughters of American Revolution, and a former South district D. A. R. director.

Her natural intelligence and a gracious personality were enhanced by wide travels both in America and abroad.

Individualistic in her views and opinions, she possessed a sympathetic interest in humanity in general and a kindness of heart that endeared her to her friends and family.
