Ben Isham Dies; Ill for 23 Years

Bernhardt S. (Ben) Isham, 59, a native of Mt. Vernon and an electrician who had been bedfast for 19 years of an illness of 23 years, died at 4:40 a.m. today (3 Nov 1952) at his home on R.R. 2, Evansville.

The family had resided in the
Evansville vicinity since 1946.

A stroke suffered at
4 a.m. Sunday, from which he never rallied, resulted in death early today.

Body To Mt. Vernon
the body has been brought to the Short Funeral Home in
Mt. Vernon, but funeral arrangements had not been completed at noon today.  (Burial was in Bellefontaine Cemetery.)

Surviving are the wife, nee Eura E. Roach; five daughters, Mrs Harold Schneider, R. R. 1, Elberfeld, Mrs. Elwood Mitchell, Evansville, Mrs. Thomas Medcalf, South Bend, and Mrs. Jewell Burris and Mrs. Clifford Schneider, Mt. Vernon; two sons, Clay Isham and Benny Isham both of Evansville, and 17 grandchildren.

The deceased was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Howell.

Of Well Known Farmily
The parents of the late deceased were well known
Mt. Vernon residents. His father was Clay Isham, for many years an engineer at the Mt. Vernon Hominy mill during its operation by the Hudnut Milling co., and later the American Milling Co. His mother was Erephine Steffan Isham.

As a boy and young man the deceased was an amateur baseball pitcher of the Tri-State reputation. He was employed by the Bell Telephone Co., and later by Oscar D. Keck, local electrical contractor, as a batterman prior to his illness.
