Louis G Hoffman, 86, Plainfield, N. J., a native of Mt. Vernon, died yesterday, his sister, Mrs. Samuel J. Miller, Mt. Vernon, has been advised.

Mr. Hoffman, a retired railroad employee, went to his summer home at Ocean Park, N. J. in early June.  Although he had been under medical care because of a circulatory ailment, his death was unexpected.

Mrs. Miller had not been advised of funeral arrangements early today.  In addition to the sister, Mrs. Miller, the deceased is survived by his wife and two stepchildren.

Mr. Hoffman was born and reared in Mt. Vernon.  He was a son of John Hoffman and Mary Hafner Hoffman.  Mrs Miller is the last survivor of five children.
