BESSIE EDITH SHELBY HIRONIMUS
MOUNT VERNON - Bessie Edith (Shelby) Hironimus, age 84, passed away on Friday,
Jan. 26, 2007.
She was the daughter of Jesse and Thursa Shelby and
graduated from Poseyville High School.
Bessie was employed at Briggs in Evansville when she was a young woman. In 1946, she
and her husband, Oscar "Poss" Hironimus opened Hironimus Food Center in Mount Vernon, where she continued in an active role
until 1992. Bessie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and
friend to many.
She enjoyed her memberships at Bethesda General Baptist Church, Kitcheneers
Home Economics Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, Moose
Auxiliary, Poseyville High School Alumnus and a past
member of the Business and Professional Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband "Poss" in 1975, two brothers, John
and Vincent, her twin sister Jessie, sister Muriel,
son-in-law Jerry Tomlinson and great-granddaughter Reid Tomlinson.
Bessie is survived by her daughters, Bonnie McKinnies
and her husband, Chip, and Jill Kost and her husband,
Mark; a brother, Harold Shelby and his wife, Clara, all of Mount Vernon. Also surviving are her grandchildren,
Ken Wayne Tomlinson and wife, Jodie, of Westfield, Ind.; Mark Kost, of
Conway, S.C.; and Nicole Buschemeyer
and her husband, David, of Westfield, Ind. and a great-grandson, Lane Tomlinson, of
Westfield, Ind.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Schneider Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, with Rev. Dallas Robinson officiating
and burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, and from noon until service time Tuesday.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. James
Rice, the staff at Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehab and the staff at Vista Care
Hospice for their loving care and concern of our precious loved one.
