Edward E. Hessler, 71, a resident of Mt. Vernon for the last 35 years and for more than
10 years an employee of the Mt. Vernon Water Works System, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday (24 Nov 1953) at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. A coronary condition was fatal.
Mr. Hessler entered the hospital nine days prior to
his death from the home of his son, Victor Hessler, 913 E. Water street, where he resided. He had been in
poor health for several years.
The deceased was a native of Springerton, Ill., a son of George H. Hessler
and Henrietta Vaupel Hessler.
The body is at the Short - Niehaus Funeral Home and
will remain there through the funeral service to be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Short-Niehaus
chapel. Burial will be in Welborn Church cemetery. The officiating
clergyman will be Rev. J. Kenneth Forbes, minister of First Methodist church,
of which the deceased was a member.
Surviving are four sons, George E, Bay Shore, N.Y., Victor and Bertis,
Mt. Vernon, and Beuford, Evansville; four daughters, Mrs. Carl Waters, and
Mrs. Melvin Reisinger, Evansville, and Mrs. Lou Scherretz
and Jennie Lee Hessler, mt. Vernon and 14 grandchildren. The daughter
Jennie Lee, is deput Posey
Circuit Court clerk.
