Mrs. Ruth Ward Hayden, 57, wife of Kenneth L. Hayden, district
manager of crude oil supply of Ashland Oil & Refining Co., died Monday (7 Jan 1957) in Welborn Memorial Baptist Hospital in Evansville. The Haydens
moved to 950 St. Michael's blvd in Evansville from Henderson, Ky four months ago.
The surviving husband is a native of New Harmony where his mother, Mrs. Nell Hayden still
resides.
The deceased's father, the late Rev. John S. Ward, was
superintendent of the Evansville district of the Methodist Church from 1917 - 1924.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hayden will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Michael and All Angels
Episcopal Church in Evansville. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery at New Harmony.
Mrs. Hayden was a graduate of DePauw University and a member of Alpha Chi Omega
sorority. She was a member of St. Michael Church, the American
Association of University Women, Neith Temple of the Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star, Tri Kappa and the
Musicians Club.
She also was a charter member and director of Baptist Hospital
Auxiliary.
Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. William G.
Neville, Valparaiso; her mother, Mrs. John S. Ward, Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. Marshall D. Abrams, Indianapolis; a brother, John W. Ward, Elwood, and an
aunt, Miss Frances Golden, New Harmony.
The body is at
J. Max Lowe Colonial Chapel, where it will remain until time for services at the
church.
