CAROL JOAN BULLER HARDY

NEW HARMONY - Carol Joan (Buller) Hardy, 76, of New Harmony, Ind., died

Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at 7:15 a.m. at Deaconess Hospital in

Evansville.

 

Carol was born on May 27, 1930, in Hereford, Texas, and lived in

Oklahoma and Illinois, before moving to New Harmony, Ind., on her 16th

birthday. She graduated at the age of 15 from Odin High School in Odin,

Ill. Carol was employed as an accountant, and worked at Laketon Oil and

Amax before opening her own office in New Harmony.

 

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Daughters of

the American Revolution. She had been a Girl Scout leader and was

actively involved with other youth groups. She loved music and doing

genealogy research in addition to traveling, she traveled extensively

in North America and also traveled to Egypt. She especially enjoyed

spending time with her family and friends.

 

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ellen (Curtis)

Buller, her brothers, Orville and Verlin Buller, her nephew, Lyle

Buller, and her son-in-law, Ernie Davis.

 

She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Ralph Hardy; her

daughter, Diana Davis; her granddaughter, Kimberly Davis Nightingale;

and her grandson-in-law, Daniel Nightingale. She is also survived by

her brother, Dale Buller and his wife, Marcia; sisters-in-law, Sue

Buller and Betsy Buller; brother-in-law, Lee Hardy and wife, Betty; and

a much-loved family of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many

friends.

 

Carol was an extremely compassionate and generous person, making

contributions to many peoples' lives without seeking recognition or

acknowledgment. Her adventurous spirit and sense of humor always

brought happiness to those around her. She will be greatly missed and

often remembered by all who knew her.

 

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at Werry

Funeral Home, New Harmony Chapel. Interment will be in Maple Hill

Cemetery in New Harmony. Friends may call at 10 a.m. to service time at

2 p.m., at the funeral home on Saturday, November 18th, 2006.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Maple Hill Cemetery, New Harmony,

Ind.
