LURA WATSON HARDWICK

Sept 1 1954
Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Lura Watson Hardwick, 81, prominent Mt. Vernon resident and widow of Dr. Robert L. Hardwick, a practicing Mt. Vernon physician for many years today awaited the arrival to Mt. Vernon of a daughter, Mrs. Eugene E. Highman, Pasadena, Calif.

Mrs. Highman, who left her mother's bedside after a recent visit to be with ill husband in
Pasadena, is enroute to Mt. Vernon by airline and will arrive here early tonight.

The body of Mrs. Hardwick is at the Weisinger Funeral Home.  The family request is for no floral offerings.  (Burial was with her husband in
Bellefontaine Cemetery.)

A series of paralytic strokes extending over a period of nine weeks during much of which time the deceased was hospitalized and which were the climax of failing health for several years, proved fatal at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday at the residence at
318 Walnut street where the Hardwick family had resided for the last 42 years.

Dr. Hardwick died 14 years ago.

Mrs. Hardwick was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Martha Hunter Guild of the church.  A gracious sympathetic personality had endeared her to the
Mt. Vernon community where she resided most of her life.

The deceased was a native of Clay, Webster county,
Ky.

Surviving in addition to the daughter, Mrs. Highman, are two grandson, Robert and Glenn Highman, and two great grandsons, Richard Lee and Robert Highman, Jr all of Pasadena, and a brother Thomas Watson, Clay, Ky.  A daughter Mrs. Adelaid Hardwick Behrick is deceased.
