Horace E. Greathouse, 72, a life-long
Death, the result of carcinoma, came to him in the same dwelling
where he was born and had spent his entire life. He underwent surgery
last March and recovered sufficiently to be up and about. Two weeks ago,
he became seriously ill.
The deceased's father and mother were of pioneer Posey county
families. His father, Francis M. Greathouse, a
native of Point township, was a Union Army captain in
the Civil War. His mother was before her marriage Margaret French, a
native of
Early this month, Mr. Greathouse
resigned as farm manager and treasurer of the Alexandrian Poor White Orphans
Fund, a position that he had held successfully for more than 30 years.
He was a staunch Republican and a party worker much of his
lifetime.
His fraternal affiliation was with the Masonic order and he was a
member of
