PETER ESPENSCHIED

17 Nov 1928-14 Sep 1953.

Peter Espenchied, 24, Waco, Texas, a native of Mt. Vernon, a veteran of World War II service in the U. S. Air Force and a recent graduate of Baylor University at Waco, was killed late yesterday in an auto accident at Waco.

A United Press dispatch late this morning said Espenschied was fatally injured on a high way five miles south of Waco early last night when his auto struck a bridge.  Early this afternoon, his mother was advised that he was alone in the car and apparently fell asleep.

Funeral arrangements have not been made.  (Burial was in Bellefontaine Cemetery.)

Espencheid was graduated from Baylor only three weeks ago, receiving a degree after majoring in education, a field he was preparing to enter and for which he was eminently qualified not only by educational training but by a brilliant mind and Christian character as well.

He served three years in the Air Force during World War II and shortly after release from service entered Baylor.

His marriage to Ola Bohan of Waco took place three years ago.  They have a year old son, Peter, Jr.

The deceased was graduated from Mt. Vernon High school in 1946.

His entrance into military service followed.

Surviving in addition to the wife, son and mother, are the stepfather, N. H. Ridenour, Posey county, and a sister, Margaret Rose Espenschied.  The mother is the former Flossie Crowder.  The deceased father was the late Peter Espenchied.

The accident victim was a member of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church of Mt. Vernon.
