Mrs Grant Dixon, 84, highly respected former resident of Marrs township, died at 4:30 o'clock this morning in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville where she had been since last Friday.
She had been in poor health for the past several years and had
been bedfast for four weeks. Dropsy and a heart ailment was the immediate
cause of her death.
The deceased was born and reared in Marrs
township but had removed to Evansville 16 years ago to make her home with her
daughter, Ms. August Kerchoff, following the death of
Mr. Dixon. She was a devout member of West Franklin Methodist Church for many years and when she removed to Evansville she changed her membership to St. James
Church.
Near surviving relatives are five daughters, Mrs. Louis Orth, wife of the Marrs township
trustee, Mrs. Kerchoff., Mrs. Alfred Oschman and Mrs. Elmer Thomas of Evansville and Mrs. Ronald
Baston of Detroit, Mich;
two son, Harry L. Dixon, Flint, Mich; and Major Samuel
C. Dixon of Anchorage, Alaska; a number of grandchildren and several great
grandchildren.
The body is at
the Alexander Funeral Home in Evansville. Funeral service will be held at
the chapel there at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with the minister of
St. James Church officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery at
Mt. Vernon.
