SOPHIA BOERNER DIETZ

 

Mrs Sophia Boerne Dietz 84, a respect life-long resident of Posey county and the widow of William Dietz, a Marrs township farmer, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday (20 Sep 1953) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will K. Thomas, 118 West Ninth street.

 

Illness of two months was fatal to Mrs. Dietz.

 

The husband died in 1934.

 

The body of Mrs. Dietz is at the Weisinger Funeral Home.  It will remain there until 11 a.m. Tuesday when it will be taken to Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in Marrs township, of which the deceased had been a member for many years.  Rev. Donald Eaton, Salem pastor, will conduct the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.  Burial will be in Savah (Salem UCC) cemetery.

 

The deceased was born in the West Franklin vicinity, the daughter of Adam Boerner and Wilhelmina Burgdorf Boerner. She spent most of her life in Marrs township but for the last 20 years had resident with the daughter, Mrs. Thomas.

 

Surviving, in addition to the daughter, are two son, John and Arthur, Evansville; eight grandchildren and six great -g randchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Carie Grebe, Marrs township, Mrs. Lulz Zuspann, Marrs Township and Mrs. Ed Strupp, Eastern Blk Twp and a brother Chris Boerner, Marrs.

 

A son William died a year ago and a son Oscar, died five years ago.

Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church and Salem cemetery in Marrs township for Mrs. Sophia E. Boerner Dietz, 84, widow of William Dietz, a Marrs township farmer.  Mrs. Dietz died early Sunday (20 Sep 1953) at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Will K. Thomas, 118 W. Ninth St.

 

Rev. Donald Eaton pastor of Salem Church, of which the deceased had been a member for many years, was the officiating minister.  Pallbearers were John Krug, John Roth, Adam Grabert, Albert Grebe, Edward Strupp and Adam Boerner.
