ANDREW M DEIG

Andrew M Deig, 76, member of a prominent St Philips family who traveled the South and West for many yeas in his quest for new subjects to gratify his hobbies of woodworking, photography and photo tinting, died in his sleep in Seattle, Wash., Sunday (3 Apr 1955) night, a sister, Mrs. Frank J. Schenk, St. Philips, was advised late yesterday.

 

Death was the result of an attack of heart disease, the coroner at Seattle advised Mrs. Schenk.

 

The body will be returned to Posey county for funeral and burial services.  The rites at St. Philip Catholic Church, of which the deceased was a member, will not be held before Monday of the coming week.  The body will be brought to the Schenk & Pierre Funeral Home in Evansville.

 

The deceased had resided in Seattle for the last two years.  He made periodic visit to St. Philips during his extended travels and left on his latest journey three years ago, staying in Texas, Arizona and California prior to going to Seattle where he previously resided for 17 years.

 

In his earlier years, Mr. Deig was ian express company employee and was located in St. Paul, Minn., for a time.  He saw military service shortly after the Spanish-American war.  He was never married.

 

The deceased's parents were Joseph A. Deig and Mary Weinzapfel Deig, representatives of two eminent St. Philips families.

 

Surviving in addition to the sister, Mrs. Schenk of St. Philips, are another sister, Sister St. Marcella, Order of Sisters of Providence, who is now stationed at Sellersburg, In., and a brother, Joseph Deig, San  Francisco.
