IDA ZIMMERMAN DAWSON

Mrs IDA ZIMMERMAN DAWSON 73, ill since she suffered a paralytic stroke last March 23, died at 11:15 o'clock last night at her home at 209 West Eighth street.

A native, life-long resident of Mt. Vernon, she had been an active and devout member of First Methodist Church since the age of 12 years. Her life had been centered in church activities and in her home.

She was the widow of Charles Dawson, a pharmacist and drug store owner in Mt. Vernon for many years, who died Jan 24, 1935.

Funeral Rites Sunday

The body was returned this afternoon from the Weisinger Funeral Home in the late residence where it will remain until it is taken to First Methodist Church for the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery. Dr. Frank R. Greer, First Methodist minister, will be the officiating clergyman.

Three nieces and three nephews are the nearest surviving relatives - Mrs. Elsie Zimmerman, Mt. Vernon, a teacher in Hedges Central grade school; Miss Loeraine Zimmerman, Mt Vernon, a teacher in Kokomo, In; Miss Alice Zimmerman, Evansville a teacher in Evansville Reitz High School; Carl A Zimmerman, superintendent of Logansport Ind schools; Robert Alexander, St. Louis, an insurance company executive and Thomas Zimmerman, Mt. Vernon, Ind.

Mrs. Dawson was a member of a prominent early local family. She was the last surviving child of John Zimmerman and Elizabeth Seifert Zimmerman. She was graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1895 and in 1903 married Charles Dawson.

Very Devout Methodist

Few members of First Methodist Church had taken a more active role in its affairs and her deep religion was reflected in her individual life. She was a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. She was a charter member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service and was presented an adult life membership by the local society in appreciation of her service as a group leader. She was also Communion stewart of First Methodist and prominent in affairs of the Mt. Vernon Council of Church Woman.

In addition to her affiliation with church organizations, she was a member of the Diligent Workers Home Economics Club.
