CHARLES E COX

Charles E. Cox, 75, a well known retired farmer, died unexpectedly this morning at his home at 417 E Tenth street.  He had been acutely ill for several days of a coronary condition but death was sudden.

 

A native of the Oliver vicinity in Center township, the deceased spent his active years in that locality, moving to Mt. Vernon after retiring from farming.

 

He was a member of a prominent Posey county family, the son of Absalom Cox and Nancy Jane Allison Cox.

 

The body is at the Short-Niehaus Funeral Home and the funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Short-Niehaus chapel.  Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery at Bufkin.  Mr. Cox was a member of Mt. Vernon Church of God.

 

Death severed marital bonds of 54 years.  Surviving ar the wife, Lela Mae Cox; three daughters, Mrs. Loral Travers, R. R. 1 Wadesville, Mrs. Everett Buchanan, R. R. 1, Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Harvey Dickhaut, Evansville; two sons, Calvin and Raymond Cox, Mt. Vernon; 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Andrew Highman, Mt. Vernon and a brother, Joe Cox, Fillmore,  Calif.
