JOHN CARSON
John Carson, a Marrs township school
teacher for 42 years prior to his retirement and a scion of a prominent pioneer
Marrs township family, died at 6 a.m. today in
Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, Ind. He would have been
80 years old on the coming January 5.
The pioneer Posey county pedagogue, who contributed a lifetime of
service to the education of marrs township youth, and
his wife had resided in
The deceased had been in failing health for several months and y
yesterday suffered a stroke.
The body will reach The Short Funeral Home in
The funeral service will be conducted Friday afternoon in The
Short Funeral Home chapel although the exact hour had not been determined at
Surviving are the wife, nee Rosetta Moore, who plighted her troth
to the Posey teacher 54 years ago; a daughter, Mrs. B. H. Alldredge,
Greenfield; a son, Harold Carson, an employe of the
International Harvester Co., plant at Memphis, Tenn. two grandchildren, Glenn Aldredge and Paul Aldredge, and
two great grandchildren who are who are the son and daughter of Glen Alldredge.
Mr. Carson who combined book knowledge
with common senses in his long professional career, was a very popular and
respected teacher.
He received his teacher's training after graduation from
The parents of the deceased, Christopher Carson and Elizabeth Hell
Carson were representatives of the earliest Marrs
township families.
Mr. Carson was a member of Modern Woodmen of America.
